At the beginning of 2007 have finally come to know the magical world of the Internet, learning some tools to develop sites and portals. Thanks to my brother, an electrical engineer, I learned to use Joomla!, a CMS (Content Management System) open-source, which uses MySQL, a database also open-source. The occasion was the development of the site's personal adviser to the Molise Region, Massimiliano Scarabeo (www.massimilianoscarabeo.it). Four months of work, where as well as getting comfortable with the various tools of web-master and web-designers, were also necessary to encode and organize the contents of the old site, and to write the lyrics for filing and synthesis. At the beginning of May the site was put online, and still today is that I managed and updated.
Digital Territory![]()
Soon after I began to develop the project of digital territory, which should have been the operational summary of the economic model of a territory. The basic principle of the model is that without a continued and updated of SWOT analysis, its integration with development policies, and evaluation of the effects of policies made, there can’t achieve the effectiveness and efficiency of investment. In application to Molise region, where I live and I know well, I started to develop some of the portals of which would be formed digital analysis of a territory: the first was Sanniti.org, aimed at cataloguing associations , organisational excellence and talent working in Molise, and in the whole world; Web2.0, dedicated to the knowledge of technology trends in the field of ICT; SannitiDigitalGallery, dedicated to the knowledge of Molise through photos, that uses Gallery2, a powerful open-source software for managing images. After contacting many associations and many personality, I understood that the terms in which all present are not attractive to the mass, and therefore the tactic started to involve associations and talents by offering them the opportunity to create cards or Internet sites at the cost zero, it was found wrong. Deepening better knowledge on the Web 2.0 and the phenomenon of mush-up, I understood that using tools as stand-alone for the management of photos, no longer has meaning, and so I decided to move everything on Flickr; for the same why I decided not to use JEvents, a good component of Joomla! for the management of events, and dedicate myself to the knowledge of Google Calendar.
Google's Power Going to develop the portal's main project, Molisedigitale.net, I tried to find out more about Google Map and navigation in 3D. With regard to this last point I took familiarity with software, as Hugin, for the construction of photos at 360 °, and I began to build the site Sanniti.org on Gogofrog. In connection with Google Map I spent many days displaying hundreds of web pages on the subject, to realize that without adequate preparation in many languages that are used, can not reach my goals. Already there are good components of Joomla! what ensure the big advantage of using a database for the management of placemarks, they do not have the functionality of tab navigation in info-windows, which I personally consider essential for more effective communication. So I used a script (GmapEZ), which allows easy management of tabs, but naturally loses the power of data-base, aimed at giving a more modern vision of a bill, this script is excellent, while for most projects articulated is not suitable (see this example). If all this is added the need to create filters in research and an organization of categories as do many commercial services of Google Map (like this), then I had to surrender before the finding that my knowledge of tools is too poor to reach the objectives that I set. If you join the fact that in Molise the phenomenon of Web 2.0 is virtually unknown and has an interest almost nil, half month of June, I abandoned the project of digital territory, to devote myself to activities that become easy money, like my expertise in building systems design.
